Letterhead

A letterhead went before
correspondence which said nothing,

to put you off the scent,
the incompetence, the thread.

There on the formal page,
the willingness not to help;
to resist, to never bend,
nor fold, for you.

Meanwhile, it rains.
You take a phone call in which
keys and hashtags pressed
are your next
desperate language,

with crickets on the other line.
